Import ? IMO Tier II, EU stage IIIA engine

I am looking at a boat in the Med that has twin Scania DI09 diesel engines.  From an emissions standpoint, these are rated IMO Tier II, EU stage IIIA.

Can this boat be imported to the US? or a visit the US?  

I read a lot about IMO Tier II and Tier III … but there are so many qualifiers/conditions/exceptions/nuances, it’s very hard to get a clear understanding.

IMO T2 is very close to ETA T3 and I pretty certain that a “visit” would pose NO ISSUE.  As to trying to register the boat in a given state  after purchase,  I am also fairly certain this is on a state by state basis,,.. You would probably have to get a company that specializes in that to get you current. I live in Calif and the rules are changing as I write.
