    I removed the air heaters from my 6BTA5.9 370 M-3’s years ago….but I didn’t touch what I assume to be the grounding strap for the air heater, shown highlighted in the attached photo.

    Is this in fact the air heater’s ground strap? Does it do anything else, or is it safe to remove now the air heaters are gone?

    If you’re removing the air grid heater assembly, you can remove that strap no problem…

    Yes, that is ground for the heater. Here’s the diagram depicting it as well as a shot of the heater I took when I broke down my aftercoolers last winter. You can see the lug on the element. As to removing it, yes..What else would it do? The aftercooler itself is hard mounted to the engine so it would not be needed for case bonding or such if that’s what you were referring to.
