We removed the aftercoolers from our 6bta 370’s last weekend, in the process, had to cut a few hoses due to them being past service life, as well as in a couple places, too hard to access to remove whole. When I reference the hose info on the store page, I am finding conflicting info. It appears the raw water hoses on our engines are 1.5″ early model size, however the motors both have straightĀ  (no s bend) fuel coolers like the late model.Ā  It appears I would need (4) hs-7502 for the air sides (2 engines), (2)hs-3495, and (2)hs-6019.

    Am I correct in this?

I assume hs-4839 (pictured as a straight hose) is for motors with the s bend non fuel cooler applications? It is tagged as the pump to aftercooler hose though, which makes me think its the 90 degree hose that goes from seawater pipe to the fuel cooler or aftercooler feed s pipe.Ā

the picture on the early hose page is confusing, as #2 is pictured on the side view as a 90 degree hose connected from pump to pipe feeding aftercooler. where as item #2 is listed in the parts as the hs-6743 “silicone gear oil cooer 90 degree) hose.Ā

Our gear oil coolers appear to be 1.5″, we are ordering 1.5″ replacements as well, assuming it would be pn hs-2965 for the 90 on the other side of the oil cooler, and pn GC-359125 .

I am not near the boat to take pictures, I have measured the barbs to obtain the hose sizes as the hoses werent marked, there being a 1/4″ difference between the top and lower water caps on the aftercooler, I can assume that the top is 1.5 and the bottom 1.75.

The only difference between late and early 330 / 370’s, hose wise,Ā  is on the seawater side –Top of Aftercooler to HX .Ā  Ā  Ā 1.5″ vs. 1.75″..

Seems it is pretty clear to me onĀ  the web site.

If not, point it out to Corey via a direct email

So from what I can gather given the components present and their sizes. Is this cart pictured below accurate for replacing all hoses that attach to the aftercoolers and gear coolers?

    Cpl# is 1975.

It is a 370, with a 90 degree outlet on the aftercooler, with 1.5″ hoses at the trans gear coolers (that the diagram/link) you sent says doesn’t belong on a late model style, and has a late late model style fuel cooler as shown in the diagram/link you sent. If you read back to my original post, therein is where the confusion lies. It appears to have early model style 1.5″ hoses and fittings on the coolant fittings on top of the engine, but it has a fuel cooler like a late model.Ā

You have a 330-370 Diamond, right?Ā  The “engine hose diagram you posted was from a old CPL970/1613 300B..

    Look at this link:

Removed the cores today. Neither core was particularly filthy. One core definitely had been removed and reinstalled as it was missing it’s side strips and had a few areas of bump rampage on the fins, the other looked new other than a light film of crud. There was evidence of leakage in the one core that belonged to the aftercooler body without the e coating. That was the core that had been serviced. Strange part is the cooler with the e coating and the like new core belongs to the much older engine, where as the newer engine had three thinner casting body with no e coat and the Roger looking core.Ā

Now, I REALLY, REALLY need to get the right hoses ordered. Can someone please address the initial question in the post which is what particular part number hoses do I need to order because part numbers, diagram numbers and sizes don’t exactly match on the seaboard store. I have posted pictures of the engines, the aftercoolers, and now the disassembled aftercoolers. I am up against a tight schedule at this point to get everything back together and just need to verify what hoses to order.Ā

I have not removed the cores yet. I do however need to get hoses ordered asap and don’t know what to order based on the hose diagrams and corresponding part numbers.

    Aftercoolers

Not identical by any means, but more or lessĀ  “interchangeable”Ā  .. The later version could easily have one the dreaded “aluminum finned cores” that got Cummins into a class action law suit in the early 2000’s.Ā  Got goodĀ  pics the the insides of both?Ā

Pics are the best I can do in the time I had. The info plate on stbd (original) engine was wiped clean with some kind of solvent and it has nothing printed just a bare metal plate. The port engine is newer but identical in configurations and size. The cpl number on that engine is 1975.Ā

When you can, post good pictures of your aftercoolers and your engines, all sides, not too close, and post your CPL number(s)
