Genuine question here,  In my years of reading, i seem to recall that rings will not wear in or seat properly on new or rebuilt engines if synthetic oil is used from new.  New engines supplied with oil will come with a break in oil that is mineral based and designed to allow the rings to seat properly.  Synthetic oil is too “slick” to allow the rings to seat.  After proper break in, then oil can be changed to synthetic. Is this a thing or am I mis-remembering?

IMO there is no right or wrong answer here and lots of mixed opinions so it comes down to what makes you sleep better after doing your own research on conventional vs synthetic.   Others may have an opinion one way or another…
