Black smoke low power Cummins 6BTA-M2

I have 2 Cummins 6BTA-M2’S in a Searay 370DB, I seem to be getting black smoke out the back of the boat  when trying to plane, and seem to be not getting full RPM?  I am getting a high vacuum on Starboard engine but have new fuel filters . Looking like someone has changed fuel lines and they don’t seem to be big enough?   3/8 fuel line but seems to be returning fuel to port tank  instead of Starboard tank where it should be going.  going to replace lines and up the sizes to 1/2 and blow all out. plan on replaced tank valves as well.

Dark smoke and fuel restrictions do not coincide. You may very well have multiple things needing attention. Have you read the Low Power Troubleshooting article in Tony’s Tips?
