I picked up some rubbish on my intake while leaving the harbor. Alarm sounded and temp was 220. I shut it down and then let it cool before starting up and put it just in gear back to harbor. Less than 1/4 mile. Temp got up to about 210 back to harbor. Changed impeller and cleaned up pieces downstream of that. Looks like I got all the pieces
What else should I check to make sure engine is ok?

    Thanks
    Ron

Sounds good, I’d say you dodged a bullet.

    Rob,

I was at light load at 1200 rpms just leaving the harbor. No coolant lost or paint discoloration.
I’ll check the exhaust hose. Pyrometer was reading 300.

    Thanks
    Ron

At what load where you running?
Did you boil any coolant out?
    Discolor any paint?
If coolant not lost it’s best to keep engine idling and coolant circulating. A temp rise due to seawater side problem is much more forgiving than overheat due to a coolant loss. What is the coolant level now? Are temps back to normal now? Check your wet exhaust hose off the mixer for possible damage from wet exhaust running dry/hot.
