Hello Gentleman, This forum is absolutely great. I have been reading piles of info. Learning alot. I have a 1997 Sea Vee with 250 Hp 6bta m1. ESN# 45388094 and Cpl# 1570. The coolant pump is bad. This pump looks identical to the pumps in my 6b trucks. Can I just get a pump from the local parts house instead of waiting on shipping? Any difference between the marine pump and automotive line? I have searched here and google and can’t seem to find any definitive info between the two.

    Thanks!

Many of the genuine marine coolant pumps have either different impellers and or a slightly different pulley diameter…Plus, Cummins has made changes over the years—Coolant circulation requirements in a marine engine are different in many cases……. I would not have a clue in your case..

I would guess if you looked at B series coolant pumps, you’d find 15+ different parts numbers, but they all may “fit”…………………….Reason ???
