I’m in the process of changing impeller on port motor almost impossible to get to. After I took out impeller I wiggled th shaft it sit on. Not much but there was a little play.

Question1 = Is there supposed to be no movement on that shaft?

Question 2= If I remove the entire pump, as I may have to in order to get new impeller installed. Can I just remove and replace pump or will I need to install a new seal of some sort where it bolts to engine?

Question 3 = Should I expect to loose some oil when pump is removed?

Motor is 1996 with 1500 hours

    Thx
