One of the stop switches for our Riviera does not appear to be connected. The side that is connected works just fine.    I am shutting down both engines currently by switching off the “ignition” switches.

There is some wiring that was not connected to anything (loose in the console) near the disconnected switch that looks as though it is part of that circuitry, but the conduit does not have a label.   The wiring for the working side does have a label.

If this is the stop switch wiring, I would like to reattach everything, but I do not have a schematic. If someone knows how I can appropriately test to see if this is indeed the stop switch wiring, that would be very helpful.  I am not planning to connect and guess.  If there is a real way to test it, that would obviously be the way to go.  I can use a VOM, test light, etc.

I have provided some pictures of what the back of the instrument panel looks like, along with a picture of the non connected wiring.

Any information would be very helpful.
    Thanks to all.

Your logic is sound… if the wire was loose which left the circuit OPEN, then engine would never run. It would be nice to see a picture of the opposite side of the switch panel too so I can see what buttons/switches you have. With a voltmeter and some time, you should be able to sort it out… especially since you have a side that is currently functional.

Thank you for the feedback.  I have a feeling that the loose wiring I found is not going to do anything for me because if the stop switch just opens the circuit, then I would not have a hot ignition on that side.

I will keep searching for an appropriate schematic and go from there.  I do appreciate getting back.  I’ll let  you know what I find out.

    Riviera Wiring…

David, just so you know the SmartCraft wiring does not pass the starting circuit through the junction box so any wiring that you’re looking at is going to be boat builder (Riviera) specific. This means that we will not be able to source any diagrams that will help you unfortunately…

But it may help you to know that the STOP circuit is just a switch that momentarily opens the IGN wire back to the engine ECM and this is what stops the engine.

    Hope that helps a little!
