Original maintenance book calls for 18 ft-lb for the cover bolt using the original obsolete 3923406 noise isolator seal. With that seal, the bolt will bottom on a shoulder as you tighten it and not crush the valve cover gasket. The replacement isolator 3935449 is much thicker, before I tighten these too much and completely crush the new valve cover gaskets, can someone please advise me on how much to tighten the cover bolt?

    Thank you!

On YOUR particular design, you tighen it until the bolt bottoms on the shoulder..The valve cover gasket will compress as needed.

One of those things you do by feel and be sure all surfaces are 100% clean and the base gaskets are seated properly.
