Shell GTL fuel for 6BTA 370
This topic has 3 replies, has 3 voices, and was last updated by 6 years ago
May 15, 2018 at 11:25 pm Hi all, My marina just switched to Shell GTL Paraffinic fuel instead of diesel. From Cummins website I can see they announced compatibility with B4.5, B6.7 and L9 engines. Cannot find info on other engines Anyone knows whether it is a problem to use it with 6BTAs 370 diamond marine engines ? Brgds Troels

May 30, 2017 at 11:14 pm Hi all, Simple question. I have two Hurth HSW 800 V1 (pre ZF), 1.6 ratio. Which oil is preferred ? Oil is a jungle and manual I have is for the later ZF versions stating just Dexron II or III. I can get the “Castrol Transmax Dex III multivehicle” for a good price. Is this a preferred oil for this gearbox ?

April 30, 2017 at 10:07 am Hi all, got some good advice a few weeks ago on the process. Got to work on it this weekend – I am experiencing the weird thing that I can only drain approx. 7 liters(2 gallons) – as the manual says it contains 20 liters I am only ably to get a third out. I got to try many times as I have flushed with freshwater – result is the same every time – after draining and reI drain the engine through the “small pipe plug co…

April 19, 2017 at 10:06 am Hi, my starter batteries (6-bta 370hp diamond) are almost dead. Currently I have one Varta LFD230 amp, CCA 1150 on each engine + separate battery for consumption. I am hoping these are overkill so I can save weight and money. Can anyone recommend a good starter battery, alternatively advise whether one of below batteries would be adequate: Varta LFD140 amp, CCA 800 Varta AGM 105 amp, CCA 950Ā
4 RepliesApril 20, 2017 at 10:05 pm Hi Rob, Thanks. I guess that settles the matter. Now the “only” challenge is getting the old 125 lbs batteries out, which are “conviniently” located aft of the engines with the generator in the middle and behind the engine hatch opening…

April 5, 2017 at 10:52 pm Ā Hi all,Ā I had a mishap with my water heater which is connected to port engine cooling system. Short story; the heater has “collapsed” causing some rust Ā in the cooleant. I have exchanged the waterheater and drained the dirty coolant from the engine. Next step is to run a coolant system cleaner through the engine before I refill with new coolant. Now the simple question is how to correctly fill the coolant system, I am mainly thinki…
