Yes you are correct in that, it was a machine shop that specializes mainly in automotive, and also does a small amount of marine diesel work as well. They do good work, but definitely not Cummins Marine specialists.
The “new block” is from one of the seized engines I bought. Serial number: 45933352 Which had to get bored .040″ over.
And yes, I should have just bought a 1928 long block, but my thought was to buy two “good running engines”, put one in the boat and have the second as a spare. And then rebuild the original engine that overheated when I had free time.Ā
So what I’m trying to do now, is use the block and head from the sunken/seized engine, and put all of the internals and externals on it from my original engine.Ā
