After running the boat last weekend noticed a little raw water under the starboard motor. Looks like a leaking raw water pump. Read some tips on your site, the standard Cummins pumps aren’t the best and y’all have an upgrade. Think I have one that needs replacing? Any input appreciated. Thanks

Making progress, got the raw water pump installed without having to mess with the motor mounts. Removed the fuel cooler too. Lucky no rust on the motor mount bolts. It was a 10 hour job on the removal, the generator between the engines made it much worst. Install went much better

Hope mine is not that bad. Surprised my buddy missed it when he changed the impellers in July. It’s on the easy side, but the generator in the middle takes that easier access away.
Thanks all for the insight and info.

I’m sure you are all over it, as the leak looks minor.. mine on the port motor had been leaking for some time.. or years.. Ignored by previous owner. Result was all paint washed off below engine mount bracket, and 1 mount to engine bolt was difficult to remove. When I say difficult I mean full fused to the bracket and days of penetrating fluid, bashing with chisels etc etc did nothing to even free it. We probably spent 8 to 10 hours over several days trying to remove the one bolt… It wasn’t fun. Eventually I realised a small reciprocating saw I had did steel, and it went through it in under a minute. The remaining stud wound out of the engine by hand!… Anyway.. your pump area looks a lot better than mine was so should be all good ?
Mine are older engines but I needed to strip the bracket, and mount (because of the way the mounts were mounted) to get to the pump bolts to remove the pump.. it wasn’t the nicest job I have ever done!

Engine Rotation
And a curiosity question on the engines. One is left hand rotation and the other right ?
No. Looking from the back at the flywheel, engine rotation is always CCW.
Here’s way more than you asked for:

QQ, is this the engine/pump where the engine has to be slightly lifted?
Most likely does but I’d certainly give it a go first….

#1—————–Get back about 2-4 ft and takes pics so the pump “vintage” and plumbing going to an from it can be ID’ed.. I see a very early isolator below it–Early version Sherwood 1730 series?
#2–Post an engine serial number, or post a good pic of the entire side of the engine so it can be ID-ed..
For sure, it’s been leaking for some time and it needs to be addressed.
