    6.7 QSB series 31 battery Question…will a 20′ run of 4/0 wire to starter be ok ?

    Blue Sea Systems has a nice wire size calculator:

    40 feet is pushing the limits.
    the calculator shows 445 amps max at 10% drop.

    My 6CTA8.3 draws around 500amps at start. (plus 190 amps for the grid heater, which may be on a separate conductor)

    most likely it would work, but closer is much better.
