Just installed the Seaboard Valve Cover Mount CCV kit on my 6BTA (V-drive mount). A white smoke is coming from the filter pictured in my attachment. It seems to occur at all times (engine hot and cold). It doesn’t have much of a smell and there is no oily residue. I’ve only run the engine 1 hour since installation. Any ideas?

Is it possible the ventilation hose diameter is too small? Have you ever put a vacuum gauge on it?

    1. The Crank Case Vent went straight to the bilge (never saw smoke coming from tube though)
    2. I saw it static, hot and cold rpms 600-1600. I didn’t check while underway or at high rpms
    3. 1177
    4. Yes, so they suggested the Valve Cover install option, versus the Timing Cover Install
    5. I’m not on boat, but at least 5 inches
    6. Order #11521

This is simple, but let me ask a few things first..

    1) Prior to the install, where did the “fumes go”?

    2) Do you only see this when idling? What do you see at cruising RPM?

    3) Total hours on the engine?

    4) When you ordered the Kit, did you tell the order dept you had a v-drive? IMPORTANT to know this.

    5) What is the EXACT DISTANCE from the top of the #6 cylinder valve cover to the underside of the deck, the hatch, or any obstruction directly above it. It looks like you are on #1 valve cover ( exactly where you should not be in a v-drive install)

    6) Can you post the order number so I can look it up?

    Tony
