Looks like I need to Remove & Reinstall the 800V transmission to be able to replace the rear main oil seal on the 5.9 Cummins. Looking for any helpful hints on how to go about this. Looks like the tran & engine needs to be lifted a good 2″ to clear the mounting studs to be able to separate. Planning on making a screw jack, one fastened on each side of the engine block using a L plate bolted to existing 1/2 ” threaded holes. The bottom of the reinforced L plate will have 1/2″ threaded hole for the screw jack that will push down onto the top of the stringer. Will have a 2.75″ x 6″ U channel fabricated to fit overtop of the two stringers for the screw jacks to push on. Or should I try to fit a couple of bottle jacks in under the engine.
The boat is a 92 Sea Ray Sun Dancer 440
Thanks for taking the time to read this ….hope to hear back . Ken

    Hints on “how Too” ?

#1————-Figure out how to slide the shaft back 8-10″.. It’s a hollow shaft gear and the shaft coupling in on the BOW END of the gear
