If a guy is running bow up most of the time, should the pan sump and pickup tube be moved from the front of the engine to the rear to reduce the risk of oil pump starvation ?

And should the gas recirculation tube be moved to the front of the engine to reduce the risk of oil getting sucked into the turbo ?

    Just thinking out loud…

I wonder if there is a kit available for the rear sump option ?

Your thinking is on target, but unfortunately the engineers at Cummins marched by a different drum when offering the default OP option when the engine was 1st released in 2004-ish. . It “kinda stuck” until they released the flat shallow pan. The do offer a rear sump option, but that would take buying loose “parts” to make the conversion. The pan itself is probably “reversible”, but the oil pick-up would have to be changed. .

I’d post the option drawings but for what ever reason, the forum it not letting me add attachments right now.. Corey is working on it.

    QSB 5.9 Oil Pan Options

Are you suggesting the QSB oil pan option in the application is the “front sump” version and not flat?

The QSB oil pan is 1″ deeper than the mechanical B so less prone to overfill and whipping. 13 quarts in the pan should keep it around the Low mark.
