    QSB 5.9 oil filter tubes.

It feels to me like the oil tubes are solid with a sleeve to protect from chafing.

Can I remove the sleeves without replacing the tubes??

The orange hoses are soft and squishy until I squeeze it hard then I can feel a hard line inside.

I’ve got to ask, what sleeves? Those shiny pieces of metal? at each end of the rubber hoses?

The picture is not close enough to be sure about but if that is what you are asking about those metal “sleeves” look to me like Oetiker clamps or at least something of similar design.

They are good clamps. Look them up. They have to be chosen carefully to fit the hose properly, then the EAR is squeezed with a special plier to close the clamp on the hose.

Best are the two ear clamps but once set they will not let go but need to be cut off with a cutting plier.

    There are other similar designs.

    Tony,

At first I thought they were hoses under pressure because they were bulging in a weird way but after squeezing them I realized the sleeves were just sleeves.
I was thinking about removing the sleeves just to clean up the appearance. I know it’s petty but I like things to look good.

Those look like hoses to me. They are there to eliminate vibration which would fatigue and eventually crack a continuous hard line.

I am curious————-What exactly are you expecting to accomplish by removing the sleeves?
