I have 2 8D batteries in the boat. There isn’t a battery switch. I am going to put one in. Recently replaced red starter cable and red alternator cable. Both are 2/0 tinned with heat-shrinked connections.  The cables I replaced  were 1/0 SAE , taped ends of the wrong size. Each of them had at least a few spots with wire showing. <br />On a typical install, this will be my 1st, what tips can help ?

What is the distance cables run to starter and ground to engine.

I would recommend 4/0 wire size.

Also ensure new switch can handle the load.

My 6CTA8.3 draw about 650 amps at start (with grid heaters on)

    Hope this helps
