I have 6CTA 450’s. Since getting the boat 2 years ago I have only used my aft fuel tank 550 gallons, (I have a 300 gallon fwd tank as well) which has been plenty for what I do around the channel islands. But i plan on doing a Cortes bank trip which is 120 miles one way. Anyway since the forward tank has not been used since I’ve had the boat should I use an additive when I fill it? Thanks.

    Thanks…

The fwd tank actually pumps into the rear tank, not directly to the mains. Would that make a difference or same suggestion?

I would simply start using only the fwd tank and carry some extra fuel filters onboard and no how to change them. Burn some of that older fuel and let the engines inherent fuel return polish the rest. Remember something to the tune of 75++% of the fuel you pull through your filters is going back to the tank cleaner than when it was pulled out. Be sure to go out on choppy days to stir up that fwd tank.
