I recently experienced a fireboy fire suppression system failure on my twin 1994 6cta powered boat. Many of the controls aren’t working properly now, the blower, voltmeters etc. I am in the process of getting the fireboy control replaced but I am concerned about the turbos. The fireboy caused a hot shut down and I am concerned that my turbos were ruined. The boost gauges fail to register, as these are mechanical I can’t imagine that the gauges have been damaged. I have only run the engine in neutral since the “event” and the gauges do not indicate when I run the engine rpm up. The turbos were rebuilt recently (buy the previous owner), what is the likely damage?

    Turbo examination

I will hand spin the turbo when I get back to the boat.

Boost needs load, no load = no boost. You might see the boost gauge move ever so slightly at the dock when you push the rpms up but next to nothing as to any boost.

Take the air cleaner off and check the turbos spin free and the shaft play is not abnormal.
