Ok guys – looking for some direction here.

2014 Tiara 39 with twin Cummins QSB 6.7 engines rated at 480hp.

The Smartcraft Vessel View system showed an hour discrepancy between the port and starboard engines. The port showed 197 hours, the starboard 237. After restarting the boat 4-5 times, the port side caught up/corrected itself and now matches the starboard and they are both showing 237 hours.

Any idea what could cause this?

    Thanks!!!!

Thanks so much for the help guys!

David was correct – it was an error code for low coolant in the port engine.

Be sure you’re not confusing the hours being shown as being connected to something else… there should be an area on the screen that shows TOTAL HOURS… this value should never change. The digital screens on the VesselView are not always laid out in an intuitive way IMO.

Check the coolant level in the header tank. The error codes are displayed in the run hours window. Code 197 is Coolant Low Level. As it warms up and the level rises, it probably clears the alarm and then displays the run hours. Smartcraft is smarter than some people think!

The answer is Mercury SmartCraft, or Mercury SmartCrap.. You pick the answer that fits best..
