I have a question on housing removal. In the attached picture, is it possible to loosen and slide the pictured hose up on to the elbow to remove the housing or does the elbow have to be removed from the engine? If the whole elbow needs to be removed, what O-ring do I need to replace that? I see the O-ring kit for sale here for the rest of the aftercooler. Any recommendations on steps to removing the housing for service?

Thanks John, makes sense and I’ll see how they look once I take it off. Any “tribal knowledge” you can share on removal and install of the housing? Is there any sequence I should follow or just work from left to right?? Seems like just some wrenching and time involved in doing this. I’m not a mechanic but am very handy. I’m sure once I do this once it’ll be pretty straight forward. I’m just a little nervous since I just go this boat and I don’t want it down during prime boating weather.

I Just did a full service on those same aftercoolers. I just re used those orings. They were perfect with no defect. IF they are good I would just reuse them.

Thanks Rob, I’ve got 46785664 and 46785650. Just looking for the O-ring on the after-cooler elbow. I can get everything else here including new hoses. Much appreciated!

    QSOL

It’s not the most user friendly interface but it is all there so you should make an effort to take advantage of it. If you have trouble, post your serial number and I’ll take a look.

I am on QSOL but sometimes find it hard to find stuff on there. I think they made some changes awhile back and then I had to re-register. It actually is pretty useful once you get the hang of it. Actually, I’m probably just being lazy and I find sbmar.com easier to use. Thanks Rob! I’ll get off my ass and put some time in…lol

    Jeff,
Are you registered on QSOL? Very handy exploded view parts diagrams there.

    Perfect

Phil, that’s exactly what I was thinking. I plan on getting the O-ring “kit” from this site for the aftercooler work. I’m kinda surprised it doesn’t come with that elbow o-ring. Any idea on that part number for that? For a few bucks it makes sense to just replace it after going through all the work. Thanks for helping out!

You probably could slide that hose up but honestly just remove the elbow. Itā€™s just a clamp and you can reuse the o ring at the elbow as long as there is no obvious reason not to. That way you get the elbow between the aftercooler and intake out of the way and it will be much easier to remove the aftercooler.
