    Hi All,

My engines are ’99 6CTA’s in a 45ft Searay. I’ve owned the boat for 10 years. 2,400 hours and no issues. I’ve done all the PM mentioned here and in the last 2 years have replace every hose & clamp on both engines (all parts came from SBMar).

This weekend it occurred to me that the small oil hoses that go to the on engine oil pressure gauge are original. My question is how reliable are these hoses? Anyone had one leak, burst, etc.?

Great site, thanks for all the help.

    Larry

Your “blue” oil hose on the engine that feeds the on engine OP gauge– 100% very long term refillable unless it’s obviously “rusting thru” or something. It’s an SAE#4 hose rated at well over 2000 PSI WP..

The Temp gauge usually has some kind sealed capillary tube and bulb assembly that is filled with temperature sensitive liquid that produces a proportional vapor pressure on the bourdon tube between the block and the gauge ( about a 3/i6″ OD metal tube).

Ah – On engine gauges – was thinking helm gauges. I would inspect them and if no signs of physical damage I see no need to replace.

    Yep, mechanical

    Hey Rob,

These are on engine gauges. I have oil pressure and coolant temp on each engine. I am 100% positive they are mechanical. There is a blue hose that goes from the back of the gauge to the block. I have removed the hose before, and there is oil in there. A blue hydraulic hose.

    Thanks,
    Larry

Are you sure your oil pressure gauges are mechanical gauges with tubing as opposed to electric gauges with a sending unit? I’m not a SeaRay guy but highly doubtful.
