I am in the process of purchasing a 2003 Sea Ray 460 Sundancer, I just had the sea trial with a certified Cummins mechanic on board who had the computers hooked up to provide accurate readings during the 2-hour trip. Boat was loaded with full fuel, half water tanks, and 5 people on board, not much gear as the owner had already taken out most of his possessions.
I am including the results (PDF File) based on these readings. The broker indicated that the owner had the props redone to match the engine specificationās for required optimum fuel burn. Looking for advice if the Sea Ray is over propped as was Sea Rayās normal process to get more speed or I am OK with the current readings indicating I am in the sweet spot for cruising at 2200 to 2300 RPMās.
If over propped I still need to bring the boat from West Coast of Florida to East Coast about a 14-hour trip, what would be a good RPM range to run until I can get them re propped when I get hauled out for new bottom paint.
Thanks.
