Hi everyone, Happy fathers day tomorrow!

I’m trying to remove the Vulkan Torflex 1000 from my 6BTAs. All as part of the never-ending service to my 6BTAs. (Rear main seal replace).

I removed all 8 hex bolts that hold the flex plate to the flywheel, soaked the mating surface edge with WD40, tapped with a wood block all around. No luck.

Then I removed all 4 allen head flat countersunk bolts and the 8 cap head allen bolts from inside, and put back together this center section.

I rotated the engine looking through the starter hole, the barring tool hole and the hole below it to see if there was any front side cut out to tap the flex plate back, no access there.

Stopped trying before I damage anything.

Is it normal for it to be a tight fit?

How should I proceed to remove it?

    Thanks for the tip Tony.

Yes, the bell housing edge that mates to the adapter plate has quite a bit of pitting.

Ill make sure to paint both surfaces and apply grease to avoid electrolysis from disimilar metals when I reassemble.

Should the flexplate to flywheel bolts or the adapter plate to bell Ā housing bolts use loctite?

The key is in the initial assembly–Common wheel bearing grease between all surfaces and on the bolts makes for a nice removal years down the road.Ā  Just look at the bellhousing surface where the adapter plate was.. Dry assembly between most anything is a boat in a no-no in my book.

I was able to use a piece of angle steel with some holes drilled, resting against the bell housing to pull with some bolts.

Came out easy. The initial problem was the tight slip fit and no place to grab on to.

BTW this is the third time I’ve tried replying and I’m getting a Blocked message screen on my PC and on my phone “Sorry you have been blocked” Hope fully this message gets through.

Its happened quite often before and I have to rewrite the whole post message.Ā

    Any idea why this happens?

It says to email the site owner and include a Cloudflare Ray ID. 71d83e56fc22b03c

    Hopefully there’s a solution.

    Thanks
