Hi, I just removed one rear fitting from one of my 6BTAs Oil pan, and would like to replace these as they are showing quite a bit or rust.

To clarify, this is the 90 degree fitting that threads into the rear of the aluminum oil pan and can be used either for the oil change suction hose or for a crank case vent from the AirSeps (this was eliminated and will useĀ  a SBMAR puke bottle system).

Anyways this fitting has a straight thread with oring to the pan and a male flare on the other side that would attach to the hose (oil change suction or Airsep drain).

Can someone help identify the threads on the oring straight portion and the flare type on the other end?

Will post a photo in a minute.

    Thank you.

Cummins has been amazingly inconsistent over the years as to the “standards” as to “what threads for what” they choose.. Even the latest QSB 6.7 has some “crazy sizes” that make no sense..Ā

    Thanks Tony!

Is there a standard when it comes to Cummins engines using metric vs SAE(inches) threads in general?

Metric for bolts and nuts, SAE for hydraulic fittings maybe.

I have noticed many if not all bolts are metric but then I come across this 9/16″-18tpi for a fitting.

Photo of the fitting I just removed

Fitting removed from the rear of oil pan. Each engine has two of these on the oil pan, one for oil changes and one for the Airsep drain.

Would like to identify the threads on the straight oring side and on the flare.

    thank you
