There are two wires required to connect a control system to a ZF shift solenoid for either FORWARD or REVERSE gear shifting.
The coil on the solenoid IS NOT polarity sensitive so the ground (-) and positive (+) can be connected to either terminal (#1 & #2 pictured below).
The third terminal on the bottom is typically used as an EMF “shield” and is often times never connected.
