Placing the gear oil cooler in place of the factory fuel cooler accomplishes a couple things… #1 you remove the fuel cooler which, if you haven’t read the fuel cooler article, here it is: Understanding Marine Fuel Coolers
The other is that the routing of the hoses and overall accessibility is greatly improved from the original factory location of the gear oil cooler behind the aftercooler.
