Leslie (Athens) Schmidt is Tony & Donna’s daughter and grew up in the industry. She’s been at Seaboard since 2002 and has handled everything from stocking parts and shipping, to office management, accounting, and more.
“We’re a team here at Seaboard and it’s important for everyone to step in and help out, whatever the need. It’s the only way to keep our small family business going strong.”
Being Tony’s daughter has given her a deep appreciation for all things engines – she grew up riding dirt bikes, fancies classic cars (she has a ’66 Chevelle), and loves to fish (although she’s not so great at the catching part, like her dad).
“I love hearing a diesel engine (or any engine for that matter!) start up – the sounds of it revving and smell of the exhaust always gets my heart pumping!”
Leslie obtained her Associates in Arts with Highest Honors and Associates in Science, Business Management Degrees from Ventura College. She has been the Accounting Manager at Seaboard since 2010 and enjoys playing a vital role in supporting both the local and worldwide sport and commercial fishing industries.
“I’m very proud of our family business and the dedication my dad has given to this industry since 1980. Not many people can say they still go to work every day when they’re almost 80! My dad’s a badass and I’ve always admired his grit and determination”
She and her husband, Corey, have 3 kids; one grown and two littles. When time allows, they enjoy camping, watching their kids’ sports, hosting friends & families for gatherings, and their favorite activity is spending time at their family’s vacation home on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
Leslie also advocates for Women’s Heart Health as she herself survived a rare form of pregnancy-related heart attack at age 37 after the birth of her 3rd child. She’s also a part-time Realtor, Property Manager, and Designer – Check out #thepropertymama to read her heart story or learn more!
