These older style Cummins elbows are robust and in some ways superior to the newer welded version.  Casting results in finished product that may have evidence of marks, seams, and tooling, but the finished product is thick and very heavy duty.  Some mechanics who have been around the block a few times actually prefer these older heavy duty cast mixing elbows.
