February 22, 2022 at 9:46 am Corrected my exhaust issues a couple of seasons ago and I knew the turbos were questionable but I didn’t want to open that can of worms at the time. Fast-forward, I opened the can of worms. What do you guys think? Any benefit to replacing the turbo or should I bolt it back together and send it? Here’s the boost readings for my 330 6BTA 3psi @ 1500RPM 9psi @ 2000RPM 11psi @ 2200 RPM 14psi @ 2400 RPM 26psi @ 2900RPM Let me know what y…
5 RepliesFebruary 23, 2022 at 8:02 am Thanks. I’ll get some pictures of the wheel. Exhaust is off the boat. I did make a dry riser that took advantage of as much height as I could and made sure the mixer drained with gravity. Mind you this boat had cummins mixers on it for 20 years which had very little pitch to them.

330 6BTA side cover gasket

November 19, 2017 at 8:38 am I’ve got an oil leak from the the side cover on my 330 6BTA. Looks like the gasket is cracked and brittle. Can anyone tell me if I’ll be able slide the side cover out without removing the injector pump? I was planning on removing the aftercooler and fuel block for clearance. Not sure how long the bolt behind the pump is but if it’s 3/4 -1 inch, it should sneak out. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks Vic
20 RepliesFebruary 8, 2022 at 7:44 pm I was curious which injection pump Victor was able to sneak behind to replace his tappet gasket. Thanks Victor

November 23, 2020 at 1:26 pm I’ve been chasing an oil leak on my 6BTA – 330 for quite some time and finally tracked it down to the inner gear cover on the front of the engine. I can see where the gasket tore and worked it’s way out under the water pump. Before I get into it. Has anyone here had any luck replacing that gasket. I know the pump gear needs to be removed as well as the cam gear both of which are pressed on. The cam gear looks like it will be he…

Another 6B Oil Leak Question.

October 19, 2020 at 10:49 am Been chasing an oil leak on my starboard engine. I thought it was the front seal or cover so I replaced them both. The oil seems to be dripping from the front outboard side of the engine. I can’t get my eyes on it so it’s difficult to get pics. All I know is that it drips from that corner. The oil filter adapter is dry. The only remaining gaskets to replace (that I can think of) is the gear cover gasket that mates to the engine or …
1 ReplyOctober 19, 2020 at 3:47 pm Check the oil cooler, check the Turbo oil return orifice. Front cover gasket. Get a mechanics mirror with a gooseneck and flashlight. Oil pan???
