Thanks. I’ll get some pictures of the wheel. Exhaust is off the boat. I did make a dry riser that took advantage of as much height as I could and made sure the mixer drained with gravity. Mind you this boat had cummins mixers on it for 20 years which had very little pitch to them.Ā

I agree, clearance looks excessive but then again the boost numbers didn’t look too bad.

No play in the turbo whatsoever.Ā

Been through it and have the participation trophy to prove it.

Going off memory, i think the waterline is 8 inches to the centerline of the turbo.

you can see some drops in the picture as well as soot from being over propped.

i have the same boat (year and power). Same issue. they were over propped from the factory. Be interested to hear what props are on the boat. i had to remove an inch of pitch to get mine to turn 2900.

as for smoking from the breather, i managed it by moving it close to the air filter.

the exhaust is getting salted, you will see it when you take the mixer off. thatā€™s why. you have new turbos. i made risers to manage that. attached is my starboard that i just finished

U-tube may have some videos on thisā€“All the 12 valve Dodge engines are basically the same.

    Thanks Tony.

I’ve been combing YouTube and found a few. Was curious to see if anyone here had a success story. I started disassembly. I’ll update the thread as I progress.

Where can I purchase blue engine paint to match the blue paint on my 1996 Cummins 6CTA Diamond series marine engines?

If it’s a Tiara, this is as close as it gets.

I was able to change the cover without removing the injection pump.
The bolt behind the pump needs to be inched out but it is doable.

I did do the SB’s fuel cooler delete at the same time so i had the fuel block and all respective hoses off at the time.

    Hope that helps.

    Missed your oil question.

Yes it’s on the lower end of the dipstick near the add mark when I have 12 in the pan.
It will burn a quart or so through the course of a season

I appreciate it..This is my first diesel so other than what I read on this forum, I have no real world experience.

Yes Enviros. I put about 60 hours on it this season and about 570 gallons of fuel. There’s about an inch or so in the puke bottle. My other engine has maybe 2 inches in it.

Last season I put about 100 hours on it, I don’t remember exactly how much was in the bottles but I don’t recall a significant amount.

I’m paranoid to whether or not it was caused by blow-by as well. I need to do a blow-by best for my own sanity so I know if these engines are in good condition or I should remove and refresh them.

The boat is laid up for the winter and is about an hour away from me so it will be a few weeks before I get near it.

As far as oil goes, I had more like 12 in the pan when I sucked it out, before layup.

With respect to cold start, during the season, both will fire off within 3 seconds of crank time (preheaters are disconnected).

Engines were propped to 2800 RPM for the first 1300 hours of their life. I’ve since had them propped to 2900.

Thanks for the link, I’ll have to put that together.

    Yes. that’s the cover.
Other than doing the oil cap test (the cap would just sit there), I’ve never checked for blow by.

I have SB’s CCV on the boat.

I figure the gasket is rock hard on the edges and cracked in some place so it could use replacement.

Like Tony said. Manage it through SeaBoard’s EnviroVent and go fishing.

Mine do the same. Did you try the oil cap test?
