February 19, 2022 at 10:34 am I have 370B’s (2008 Recons) in my 31 Blackfin.  A few seasons ago I lost 90-100 rpm’s at WOT and under load on the starboard motor.   Had a few mechanics go over everything and no could come up with a cause.  Well, I pulled off my coolers for service and noticed a bracket on the bosch P7100 pump is broken and missing.  Looked a few past pictures and it’s been missing from sometime.  From what I could find the bracket is some ty…

February 20, 2022 at 6:00 pm Richard   A suggestion, is the broken off piece in the bilge or under the engine?   If you can locate it have someone weld it for you.  You can take the one off the other engine to use as a guide or “jig” to weld it back to proper spec.  As you are doing this you can have the crack repaired as well that you mentioned.   Good luck

May 29, 2018 at 8:41 pm Just splashed the boat for the season and on the first run I checked WOT rpms and came up short on the starboard motor. It only reached 2985 on digital tach. I just had the props tuned to the same specs from previous years. Previous results were 3085 on starboard and 3100 on port. The Port hit 3070+. Also the bottom was stripped and completely redone in the off-season so I was hoping for even better numbers than I got. I did notice the st…

May 14, 2017 at 6:09 pm today on a second attempt at a shake down we ran into problem with the port engine a 370b.  After idling out of harbor and getting up on plan she ran fine at 2600rpm for about ten minutes and then lost power and motor stalled.  If seemed like lose of fuel.  Tried to restart and nothing.  Tried again with the throttle full and she started but it was short lived and wouldn’t start again.    Any idea  what’s going on? Before the fuel is…

May 16, 2017 at 4:19 am Just pull the gauge and plug the hole with a male pipe plug (with RS#5 on the threads) so you can prime and test.  Should be 1/8″npt for a rear mount gauge (1/4″npt for top mount gauges)

April 3, 2017 at 7:03 am Pulled after coolers, heat exchangers and oil coolers on my 370Bs.   Cooler cores where easily removed, pushed out by hand with no effort.   There was corrosion and more than I was hoping to see on the port cooler.  I cleaned everything up and have a couple of question.   After sanding the cooler housing does it need to be perfectly smooth (see picture) and does it have be re coated.  Not sure if the black finish is a coating or anodized.   The …

April 4, 2017 at 2:08 pm On both cores dry fit them in the housings, center them with even amount protruding through the housing at both ends,  and look at where the o-rings sit, that is the sealing surface area that you need to get smooth.  If brazed, machining should not be required, you can use the housing for checking fit as you sand smooth.
