December 22, 2019 at 9:54 pm I have a 270 JWAC 6BTA with approx. 1100 hours, of which 400 are my doing. Never any problems with temperatures or anything. Regular service every 100 hours as per Cummins guideline, EXCEPT the heat exchanger..(do not ask why). Today I was below deck in Engine room running the engine and trying to see if any hose leaks from raw water side and just generally looking at and listening to hit humm This was for about 5 minutes. December 27, 2019 at 5:43 am Let’s close the loop. Transmission more or less okay after cleaning out all old messy liquids. New gear cooler needed. Same time do some seal replacements and new belts on engine. All in about 1500 USD for parts and labour. Including testing heat exchanger and new gear and coolant fluids. Love this forum. Nailed the problem.! My Thai mechanic nailed it as well and did not screw me over….. ALL HAPPY!

August 12, 2018 at 8:18 pm Hello All, I have a 6BTA 5.9 270HP JWAC and am trying to identify the wet elbow part number to buy. The cummins quickserve site lists the part as 3914717. But here at Seaboard online store it lists the 6BTA elbow as part number 3919373.. Has one number been superceded by the other?? What is the correct number. IF the correct one is 3914717, I do not see it for sale? Any insight would be appreciated. Keith

Gravity is good but how much height is between muffler water level / boat waterline / turbo? If you have enough height you could easily design something that fits where the cummins elbow is and exits at around the same place or close enough to connect to the exhaust? You could always ‘fabricate’ something out of plastic pipe and get the local fabr…

This cannot be said about by marine gear. It is a rebuilt unit that is a Twindisc. Well at least Twindisc is embossed in the casting. I have no idea what model number it is nor any info about it. The…
