March 24, 2021 at 5:21 am Hello I have a 210hp 6BT with a CAV injector pump I am wanting to control a 12v 100a NO relay that has a pull in current of around 200mA, I need this relay to be energized while the engine is running (to control a B2B charger connected between my start battery and the lifepo4 house battery) please note I can not use a VSR. What would be the best idea for wiring a control wire for the rely? I was thinking off the fuel pump solenoid? or is t…

March 24, 2021 at 7:04 pm If all of your current engine wiring is 100% up tp spec, and your relay only draws 200mA, you can use the ignition circuit (Purple key output wire) at the helm station to control it. Put the relay and the added circuit on a 1-2 Amp fuse fast blow fuse….

    • Fuel primer bulb inline

This topic has 3 replies, has 3 voices, and was last updated bydonald roth 4 years ago

June 2, 2019 at 2:28 am I was doing some checks on the 210hp 6BT engines today and noticed the fuel hose going to the lift pump has a few cracks in it and needs replacing, the hose is about 3′ long and attaches to a metal hose that goes back to the racor 500 filter. My question is can I put a primer bulb inline somewhere within the 3′ of hose going to the lift pump? (I do not have enough room to put a primer bulb anywhere else within the fuel system). If i…

June 3, 2019 at 9:30 pm Tony is much to modest to toot his horn, so Iā€™ll do it for him. His shop sells a superior squeeze bulb kit with everything youā€™d need to install it with a bypass loop and three valves. They also sell fuel filtration systems that make your racor 500 look like an old sock in a jar! Patronizing Seaboard Marine is a fine way to show how much you appreciate all the great free advice available there.

April 29, 2018 at 1:14 am I was checking the oil on my 6BT 210 CPL0742 starboard engine and the dipstick snapped at the lower mark. The full length dipstick is 37″ long (940mm) I tried to put a taper where the dipstick snapped off as it shows the low and full marks but it is getting stuck, im guessing on a lip where the tube enters the block. I checked the part number on the cummins site 3907012 but it does not tell me the length (it shows the same part number fo…

October 26, 2017 at 11:46 pm Hello, I have a pair of 210hp 6BT`s and really enjoy cruising at low speed, I often cruise at around 1400 rpm @ 7-8 knots, kicking back enjoying the scenery (and a cold beer) does it do the engines any harm to cruise at such low RPM for hours on end? cheers Ian

    • 6bt 210hp leak from injector pump

This topic has 5 replies, has 3 voices, and was last updated byTony Athens 6 years ago

September 1, 2017 at 9:07 pm Hello, I was just changing the raw water impeller and whilst checking for raw water leaks I noticed a diesel leak coming from the bottom of the injector pump, is this something I can fix myself ? Or does it require someone with more than basic skills? I’m guessing it has been leaking for some time, as I have always had a small amount of diesel in the bilge and thought it was coming from a leaking racor, cheers Ian
