November 21, 2020 at 3:05 am Hi All, Does anyone know if it is possible to get the hours changed on a cm850 ECU? I have just put on a 2nd hand one to replace a broken one. It currently shows 9999 hours on Smartcraft .. Cummins say they cant make the hours the same as they were on the previous ecu. Google says its possible with Calterm? thanks Luke

February 5, 2021 at 10:08 pm I found a way. Not the right way.. Data link-program. I even found a way to turn of the broken Wif sensor on the old ecm I replaced. So deep down I could have not bought a 2nd hand ecm and paid Cummins to recalibrate it. I would have been 1 k better off this way at the beginning.

September 28, 2020 at 6:15 pm Hi All, What are the thoughts on reman QSC Bosch injectors. My local Bosch dealer has them at a bit over 1/2 the price of the new ones? My local mechanic say they haven’t seen a successful common rail reman done locally and suggested new. cheers Luke

September 29, 2020 at 6:11 pm My experience has been that Cummins RECON injectors are “as new”.. As to buying rebuilt injectors from another source, no experience doing that, but that alone would not deter me from buying them from a well established aftermarket source if the $$ was a major factor.

July 29, 2020 at 2:54 am Hi Guys, While doing some other work I noticed both my turbo housings are cracked, I am not sure if they leak yet but will do tomorrow. So both are cracked in the same place, I am not sure if it is new or came with the engines 2nd hand as I have never taken the heat shield off and had a good look. Anyone seen this before? Other than a new housing, would you drop the housing off the turbo and give it a weld ? Or just paint over it and see if…

August 15, 2020 at 10:49 am Is it possible your exhaust is unsupported and causing too much load? The crack goes right through a bolt hole. Maybe weight plus vibration is causing it.

November 30, 2019 at 4:25 pm So I need a new ecm some time as the wif sensor part has died( I have been clearing it for 2 years now..). I tried swapping it engine to engine and the alarm went with the ecm. It is shitting me enough now and I dont want to just clear a alarm in case it is something important every time I start. Can I get any 2 port and power ( for QSC) , then get it reflashed and the data transferred across? Or do I need to get one the right code and then c…

September 1, 2019 at 6:26 am Hi All, Just thought I would try the brains trust. I have tried google and cant find what I am after. So a cetop 3 direction solenoid valve says it flows at 60 lpm ish depending in brand. I am assuming that would be at the max flow rate at max pressure of 350bar? Does anyone have or has seen a flow rate chart depending on pressure? I would assume the flow rate at 100bar would be a lot less around 20? So this is on my Hydraulic thruster, I coul…

February 3, 2019 at 3:33 pm Hi All, Does smart craft v1 have a gear box pressure alarm or just the pressure reading? Basically I blew a shaft seal on a PTO pump on a ZF 286a, that pumped the gear oil into the steering and fried the clutches. The gear locked in Fwd, not Rev like the selector was… so it shot ahead when berthing and made a crunching on someone else’s marlin board.. We are looking at a way to not have to happen again. The oil levels were fine with no oil loss. I would have about 7 bar engaged pressure fwd or astern and 24 bar in neutral. I cant really explain …

September 27, 2018 at 9:47 pm Hi All, What are the side affects of using / storing a boat on the 75 degree contour? It would get used in the warmer months( when its not frozen) and then have all the fluids drained ect prior to winter storage. Is there any side affects from storing a boat in well below freezing for 8 months a year? More engine wise, or would a couple of winters take the life of a engine? Thanks Luke
