      September 19, 2017 at 9:00 am Browsing through YachtWorld, looking for a potential new home, and ran across a boat with Cummins 6CTA 450 hp engines. Love the engines. First time I have seen this brown discoloration on the turbo, tube coming from the turbo, and the aftercooler. The photos provided in the ad don’t show the port side of the port engine, only the starboard engine. The engines have 740 hours on them. Any of you diesel mechanics run into this before? What ar…

Two are under serious consideration. One is a 53′ with 6CTA 450 hp engines and the other is a 57′ with QSM11 635 hp engines.       August 25, 2017 at 7:46 am Hi Tony, Your reputation is obviously deserved. Thanks for the information and the photos. The 6CTA looks easy to work on, easy access. The close up photo of the seawater pump on the QSM looks like the dipstick tube and the oil filler tube could be in the way of using an impeller puller.
