The Tony Athens on the East Coast is Tom DeMann located in Wilmington NC.  Some years ago Tom and Cummins Marine, Charleston, worked with Krylon to produce the QSC Bright White.  It was sold commercially under a Cummins Part Number and Krylon Commercial OSHA WHITE MPN 1800.

Salt water is heavier than fresh water so if you open the sea cock…no,big deal. I personally leave them closed but it’s not imperative…..

Check the port fuel tank…forward outside bottom seam….I’ve had 4 friends with late 90s Dancers with the exact same problem….very expensive fix…

Had the same really messey soot issues….DeMann CUMMINS replaced with new style metal gasket verses what looked like a synthetic material from original build. No problems now.

I know of no one that makes these kits and sells them. You need to go to your local marina and see if they can make them for you. Sorry but……

Your strainers are Groco units. The attached picture shows the easiest way to accomplish this. The bronze lids are tapped to allow for a MARINE GRADE ball valve and a 5/8″ hose adaptor to be installed, done by qualified tool and die shop. One each for mains and one for the gen set. I also have one I use to acid flush the A/C units using Barnicle Buster. Each engine is flushed with dock side water at IDLE for 10-15 minutes each. You are making the right choice!!

K&N are not Walker Airseps…..Marine diesels are not highway diesels.  Walker airseps should be cleaned every 250 hours under normal useage.  I would recommend using the Walker cleaning kit.

CAPTAIN…Is the salt water up north any different than salt water anywhere else in the world?  It doesn’t matter if you used your boat for 1 hour in salt water.  If you read all the above postings…you DO NOT want salt water left in your raw water cooling side of the engine..period.  If you are not going to use the boat in 5 days or less, flush the engines and gen set.

Several weeks ago I posted photos as evidence of how FW flushing can save you thousands of dollars in raw water maintenance costs.  Two owners in my marina just spent $8K and $18K for complete raw water servicing and in the $18K case replacement of both heat exchangers.  The owners who have pontificated about FW flushing are only kidding themselves.  Any reputable diesel shop will highly recommend it and those that don’t are only interested in lining their pockets with your money.  Great thread…..

If you had cruise control it would normally be a three switch panel…one with “Cruise” one with SlowRPM and one with +/- to adjust RPM.

Twin 2009 QSC-600s.  First raw water service.  Fresh water flushed every time the boat was to sit unused for a week or longer.  Photos taken today immediately after disassembly .  Bundles slide out without hesitation. Photos speak for themselves.

I know nothing of other Krylon colors.  This was given to me by my CUMMINS service center.  This OSHA WHITE Commerical is a perfect QSC match.
