the 200 hour clause is there for new boats in dealer inventory. they may put up to 200 hours demonstrating to prospective buyers. once you took delivery of your boat the warranty was in force. Unless the dealer never entered the in service date and is willing to Lie to Cummins on your behalf.

Would’nt a conversion to J1939 require reflashing the ECU to a “non DTS” file?

On engine harness remains, Just replaces the harness from the 40 pin to the helm. I have purchased several of these from SeaBoard and they are simple and best of all come with “Cory” who is terrific when it come to customer support.

It is easy enough to change the bearing, but I’m guessing that it may be beyond your capability as you cannot change a serpentine belt. Sorry if this sounds harsh. Just an observation.

The time it takes to change the belts depends on access to the front of the engine. If you have plenty of room to work you can change out both belts in less than 10 minutes. Some engines are mounted forward close to a bulkhead and can be more time consuming. The 2 belts in the USA cost less than $250 for both.

You are referring to the accessory drive pulley, It is held on with 6 small allen bolts. There is no need to loosen or remove this pulley to replace the serpentine and/or water pump belt. If the drive pulley bearing requires replacing then the pulley would require removal. If “Your Mechanic” removed just to replace the belts? I would consider finding another. JMHO

Are you sure it’s Oil? After 10-12 years it is fairly common for the thermostat housing seal to start to weep, looks like oil when mixed with belt dust.

Its more difficult to get the old one off, maybe 2 minutes. You can roll a new one on in 60 seconds. Only thing not to like is the $160 price tag of the belt.

The QSB 480 & 420 use a larger sea water pump pulley than the 380, Thus the belt for a 480/420 would be loose on the 380.
The reason for this is that the 420/480 turn higher RPM and the larger pulley slows the sea water pump RPM reducing the possibility of pump failure.
