ZF 220 A – Shift solenoid

Second time in 6 months. Need a path forward please.
In April had to replace EB15 12V shift solenoids. Replaced both with new in April. Today had same thing happen again. When I touched the solenoid it was super HOT. Cooled down, put in gear manually and came back in.

What can be the main cause for this happening again?

If its from debris in system? Will the coil/solenoid be ok after heating up?

Your engine–12VDC or 24VDC??
