The wolverine under my QSM burned out. The bottom of the engine is unreachable as the engine is set down into the keel of a down east boat. I don’t have the requisite 3×4” space on the side of the block to install that was as was once suggested by Tony.

I do however have easy access to both sides of my ZF-310 gear which holds 2 gallons of oil. Would installing a proper sized wolverine for a 2 gallon capacity gear over time transfer some heat to the engine?

    Thanks tony

That’s what I figured, less wattage is better, I just want to take the edge off the Winter chill, not keep the engine at 100 degrees..

Use the 250W.. If not enough when it’s really cold, add a 2nd unit..

Turns out I will have block access this winter

At 2000 hrs I’m showing the initial signs of a soot leak. The starboard side coolers and manifold have to come off which should give me access low on the Starboard side of the block.

QSM 11 engine, 8 gallons of oil – use the 250 watt wolverine or go to the larger 500W one?.

    I k

    Brilliant Tony!

Wow! I’ve looked at the aides of the block 100 times, never thought of that idea, Easy access and easy to watch and monitor, thank you!

    QSM11 Heater pad location

Better on the side of the QSM oil pan towards the front as low as possible. Or, look at the pic–A 2nd excellent place and very easy to work with.

The gear would not be a great place at all.
