    Hi Guys,

I have a Cummins 6BTA 250 with a ZF220a 1.5:1 setup that I need to finish building. What would need to be done to the current engine to upgrade it to the 270HP version? I look forward to hearing back with your responses.

Also, the engine is going in a 30 Alura.

    Thanks,

    Pat

Hi Tony. Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I’m an idiot. It’s actually a 270, not a 250… It’s been a while since I have even looked at the engine…

Post an engine serial number, not that it will change what I will most likely expect to find………………There are many CPL’s for the 6BT 5.9 250-260-270.. …………..99.9% of the time, it would not be cost effective to “hot rod” your current engine……

If you have too much boat and not enough engine, the real answer would normally be sell the engine you have now and make a major upgrade in the usable power available for cruising at the speeds to need..
