    Noticed in most if not all of the pictures in the how to section that the turbo/Exhaust Systems deleted (or never had) the expensive and fragile exhaust shields I seem to have.

    Any reason I should keep them vs. delete them?

    What’s the hottest point on the QSC8.3-540 turbo and what’s the min clearance without the shield?

    In the case of a QSC ( QSL9) , the shield also covers a very HOT un-water-jacketed area of the turbo where the waste gate is…. If you take it off, you may not like what yo ‘see” under it.. Lots on burnt paint…. From that stand point of safety, that probably does not matter.. If you were under ABS rules, they would say you have to keep it there as “touchable surface temps” must be below some number around 250F or something like that..

    Yes, we typically remove them are they are hard to work around & do not feel they offer any value leaving them in place in the applications we do..
