I have boat with two Iveco AiIfo Turbo Diesel engines 8061SRM30.10 and ZF IRM220A transmissions. Starboard engine and transmission run smooth, coupling between engine and transmission is Vulkan Torfles KT3. Poert size features Vulkan coupling that is actually just rubber disc between two mating parts. This engine and transmission chatters at idle.
I asked every one, ZF, Iveco, marine places and no one knew why chatter occurs. I increased idle, chatter stopped but this was not elegant solution. Then I contacted Hugo Stamp-Iveco dealer mechanic Riszard Bruski and at the same time SeaboardMarine and both recommended replacing simple coupling with Torflex. It did the trick chatter is gone, at least when I run engine with boat on trailer. I still did not have chance to put boat in the water and check. Good recommendation, I will let you know how it works once when boat is in the water. This might be a good advice for boating community.
Thanks
