    Pic is of ‘hydraulic’ reservoir/tank next to diesel generators fuel filter – aft stbd bulkhead, engine compartment of a 1999 Maxum 4100 SCA.

    Google search has me thinking it’s a hynautic brand hydraulic engine control – or something like that??

    While I haven’t completely traced them yet, I believe the tank ‘outputs’ go to throttle/transmission and the ‘inputs’ come from helm throttle & shift controllers.

    Don’t see any obvious company/brand marking on the tank. Looking for info to help me identify and learn about this system.

    Having issue with stbd throttle – when pushed to about 3/4 WOT can’t seem to go anymore without really pushing it … engine not getting up to max RPM.

    Thanks in advance.

    Yes, that reservoir is for throttle and shifter. Steering has it’s own reservoir up at the helm by the steering wheel. Suggest to add fluid and air pressure to what is shown in your pic. Might have to “bleed’ the lines if have air trapped in the hydraulic hoses. I have the original manual for it if you need specific info. Probably on-line also. Good luck.

    Thanks …

    @Luke … not steering, that system is further aft in a different ‘compartment’.

    @Rob
    and @Glenn thanks … the sight glass is very cloudy, but I’ll certainly check fluid and pressure level. I’m pretty sure the pressure gauge on top read 0 when I glanced at it the other day – just like when I took the picture about a year ago – gosh, I’ve had a problem for a while it seems.

    WRT the sluggishness of the throttle at the helm I think that’s my fault … I read, in the link Robb provided, that the linkage must be disconnected when moving the throttle arm on the engine itself … I know my shorts got hung up on the stbd engine a few weeks ago (while cleaning under the engine) – on the engine’s throttle arm … I’m sure I moved it back and forth a couple of times trying to get free.

    Good “eye” Luke. Originally Morse Controls. I had problems with my shiftier (squirted out oil) several years ago and had to call them and had some technician in North Carolina rebuilt it. Not sure the company is still Morse, however. Fluid level should be between 1/2 and 2/3 full on the sight glass. Pressure should be between 70 – 90 psi.
    I think , as Luke noted, your’s is near or at zero. I would suggest to re-pressurize the system with air source.

    Yes, it’s the hydraulic throttle & gear control system, see the 4 port valve at the base of the reservoir. Can’t see the site tube behind the gear cooler lines but yes a fill/pressurize/bleed is in order and then WWM. Hynautic is now Teleflex, Go2Marine is a good source for info and parts. Here’s an informative link:

    Isn’t that the steering ?
    Either way it looks to be low on pressure?
