    Hi All,
I got a #331 error for injector no 2 today. QSC 540hp Its running rough and the engine has a notable miss and vibration.
It looks to be a swap out for a new injector?
Can I get the current one reconditioned? I have been told not.

    thanks Luke

Racor 900’s and 1000’s are not easy on space, if things get tight consider losing the Racor altogether and going SMX. I just removed my 900’s and putting together SMX double doubles which I will be installing shortly. Looking fwd to the better filtration, zero maintenance and considerable saving of space.

Luke… spend some time reading this a few times before you design a new filtration system….come back with questions.

    Thanks Tony,
I ordered one locally this morning after pinging out all the wires. Hopefully they have stock in Australia. Your service is good I’m just on the wrong side of the world. Time is a issue and hopefully I don’t have to wait to long for freight.

I will email you for a price for the others.

Thanks for the filter advice I will look into another 1000 series or I have a spare spin on housing as well. I will add something to both engines in the next week or so.

    thanks Luke

    FYI,

It would not be the 1st time I have seen these injectors fail “just because”.. At 4200 hours, they have done you OK, although I typically see quite a bit more before they go poo-poo. …. But then again, we never rely on just one-layer of filtration before we send fuel to the engines last-chance fuel filter. To me, that is scary with a common rail engine in a marine application.

I’ll see what Cummins offers as to an exchange based on your serial #..

    Thanks Tony,

It may not hurt as much as I thought then. I have been advised to go check all electrical the connections as well?

1000 series Racor 10 micron and standard fleetguard. Both are 100 hours from last change. Racors look as new after 250 hours . 4200 hrs on the engines not sure what was the story of filtration prior to 3850 hrs.

    Post your engine serial number..

You can usually buy rebuilt injectors from Cummins and turn yours in for a core credit / refund

What EXACT type of off engine fuel filtration do you have? Total hours since new?
