I just finished installing a fresh water flush system on my boat (with QSC’s). Since this topic seems to generate a fair amount of interest I thought I’d post a few pics of my setup and describe the process I use in the event someone might find it to be useful. No magic here as this is similar to what some others have done, and it’s quick and simple.
– I use my cockpit bait tank as a water reservoir and allow the engines to draw water rather than pressurizing the system. Fill the bait tank with 20 or so gallons of fresh water. If you don’t have a bait tank a decent size cooler will work.
– Place the draw end of the flush hoses connected to each sea strainer in the bait tank. I used ¾ inch fittings and Shields 141 water hose as it’s inexpensive, flexible, and won’t collapse under pressure.
– Start both engines and head to the engine room. Open both flush ball valves and close both seacocks. Now I’m only drawing fresh water from the bait tank.
– Let the engines run for about a minute or so. I put a bit of dish soap in the bait tank so when I see bubbles out the back I know I’m good.
– Turn off both engines. Return to engine room to close the flush ball valves and open the seacocks.
Entire process takes maybe 5-7 minutes.
