Hello SeaBoard Marine and fellow diesel owners. I am in desperate need of a knowledgeable mechanic to bring my girl back to life. I have owned her about 4 years after purchasing from an auction, so I had no maintenance history to work off. I have done a number of things myself including filters, impellers and a raw water pump on one side. I am an SBmar customer, using the impeller kits and air filters. I used the vessel frequently during that time, mostly for cruising the Intercoastal, never anything hard, and she ran well. On my way into dock one evening about 6 months ago, running at about 1000rpm, the SB engine stalled out and would not restart. Not having the time or knowledge to troubleshoot going forward, I have been trying unsuccessfully since then to employ a mechanic to assist with getting her back running and take care of a few other neglected issues. Unfortunately, I haven’t had any luck getting someone to actually show up, and just been getting the run around.
If anyone has worked with an honest reliable service tech, please let me know. I am standing here with my credit card out!
    Thank you. Vince

Hey Rob, thanks for the contact. I’ll reach out to see if he knows anyone on my side of FL.
As far as restarting, no I could only verify there was fuel getting to the cylinders. She would just crank at that point.

So you never got as far as getting her re-primed and restarted? To at least stumble and stall?..
Troubleshooting can be time consuming and if you don’t have the time it can be zero fun.
The only person in your general area that I have had personal interaction with is Dan Mattos, he’s a retired wrench who now does mechanical inspections. He may be able to give you a name, or two.
    Dan’s info is here:

Tony , nothing on my phone currently that would offer any insight. I have a couple good ones with girls laying out on the bow but doubt that will help any. Next trip down I will snap a few.
Corey, I spoke with Don from MAL services last night, seem s like a nice guy but he doesn’t cover my area and the travel time to get to me in Pompano would be a stretch. (probably about 3 hours). He did mention an outfit called Cable Marine based out of Ft Lauderdale so will give them a call, unless I hear any other suggestions or if anyone has heard of them.

How about some good pics of the installation? I’d like to see what you bought at auction..

Between my eyes and Robs, some really good pics may tell much of the story that you may be in for.

haha, well you seem like a trustworthy guy!

The weekend following the breakdown I changed the racor, wasn’t rally bad., but no luck. One of things I had on the project board were new fuel lines since mine are showing dryrot and cracking signs. I was thinking air intrusion. so, I disconnected each fuel line input and verified fuel was pushing through. Again, my knowledge is very limited. So that’s where I stopped.
And I had just started a new job so time is no longer the luxury it was before to just kill a day tinkering around.
