    Hi Guys

I’m about to replace the impellers on my 2x 6bta 330’s and have an old impeller that was given to me by the previous owner. It clearly says Sherwood 17000 on it, however it has a threaded end, but the keyway isnt a thru key (ie through the thread) all the new ones I can find are through keyway types – are they useable in place of the non thru keyway ones?

If memory serves me, the key does not go all the way to the end of the thread when installed. The threaded portion is just an aid in the removal of the impeller. You should be fine with the new thru thread key way. Also, doesnā€™t the impeller kit come with two different size keys a long and short. What current size key is on there now? I would use the key that gives you the most bite without extending past the threaded end. Hope this helps maybe someone can add to this.

    Hi Bob

Thanks. To clarify, it has a keyway and a thread, however the keyway does not go through the thread as most images show they do when searching for a 17000 impeller via Google.

    Hope that makes more sense!

Through experience I have learned thereā€™s no such thing as a stupid question!!
If in fact it is the impeller for your pump and it is threaded it should also have a keyway as well. The threaded portion is used to remove the impeller from the pump with a particular sized bolt. I do not recall the size needed at this time. Maybe someone else here will know the bolt size.
